Welcome to the NC Child Support Internet Payment Web Site. This site allows child support payors to initiate bank draft authorizations to satisfy child support court orders via the web. Although a user may be registered to access NC Child Support case information, a separate registration is required to submit child support payments through the NC Child Support Internet Payment Web Site.
 
Questions About Registering
What information is required to register?
ˇ Social security number for the person who is responsible for making the payment.
ˇ Mailing address for the person making the payment.
ˇ Valid e-mail address.
ˇ Active payor's MPI number.
ˇ Active payor's social security number.
ˇ Active payor's address.
ˇ Financial institution name.
ˇ Bank routing number.
ˇ Bank account number.
ˇ Type of bank account.
How can I obtain my Payor MPI number? You may call Child Support Customer Service at 1-877-361-5437 or your local child support office. Your MPI number can also be found on your payor coupons, your child support court order, and other documents related to your child support order.
What happens after I register? Bank account information (a prenote) will be submitted to your financial institution for verification of the account. If the prenote is successful, your payment will be processed as scheduled. If the prenote is unsuccessful, you will be notified by e-mail and no payment will be processed.
Why would the prenote be returned as unsuccessful? Most prenotes are returned as unsuccessful because the bank account information was entered incorrectly.
If the prenote was unsuccessful, can I attempt to register again? Yes.
When can I begin making payments after I register? Once you register you may immediately schedule your first payment. However your first payment cannot be scheduled until 10 business days have elapsed from your registration date. This is to allow time for a prenote or bank account verification period.
Can I register if I am under an Order for Income Withholding? Yes, but income withholding will remain in effect and will not be terminated.
 
Questions About Setting Up a Payment
When may I schedule payments? A payment may be scheduled up to two business days before the scheduled date.
What is the cut-off time for scheduling payments? The first payment cannot be scheduled until 10 business days have elapsed from the date you register. However, after this 10 day bank account verification period, payments can be scheduled up to two business days prior to the scheduled date.
What happens if my payment is scheduled for a weekend or a holiday? If a withdrawal falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or bank holiday, the payment will occur on the following business day. Your child support account will be credited the day the bank draft occurs.
What day will the funds be withdrawn from my account? Funds will be withdrawn on the same day as the payment is scheduled. If the draft falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or bank holiday the funds will be withdrawn the next business day.
What are my payment options?
Monthly: 1st - 31st (or the last of month if less than 31 days)
Semi-Monthly: two payments per month based on the following schedule:
1st & 16th 6th & 21st 11th & 26th
2nd & 17th 7th & 22nd 12th & 27th
3rd &18th 8th & 23rd 13th & 28th
4th & 19th 9th & 24th 14th & 29th
5th & 20th 10th & 25th 15th & 30th
Weekly: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
Every two weeks: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
Nonrecurring: one-time only payment
How long will it take for the State Disbursement Unit to receive the Child Support payments? The draft payment will be processed on the date of the scheduled payment unless there are technical difficulties. You should receive credit for the payment on the same date.
How long will it take before payments begin? The first time you register you must allow 10 business days before the date of the first scheduled payment. However, after this 10 day bank account verification period, payments can be scheduled up to two business days prior to the scheduled date.
Do I pay when I want and how much I want without CCO interference? Yes, however, we encourage you to schedule payments in an amount equal to your current child support obligations to avoid becoming delinquent. Remember, if a withdrawal falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or bank holiday, the payment will occur on the following business day.
How long does the process take from making a payment on the web to processing? There is an initial 10 business day prenote (verification) period. After the prenote period your payment will be deducted on the date that you schedule.
 
Questions About Editing or Changing Payments
What if I authorize a payment and later realize I made a mistake? You may edit or cancel your payment up to two business days before the scheduled date. 
How do I see my payment history? You may access your web payment history by selecting the link under Payment Options and view payments that have been paid through the bank draft process.
What happens if my bank accounts change? You must cancel existing bank account information. All scheduled payments will be made inactive. To reestablish the scheduled payments through a new bank account you must register again and wait for the prenote period.
What if my bank account does not have sufficient funds to cover the transaction? You should cancel the payment at least two business days before the scheduled date.
What if I don't cancel the payment two business days before the scheduled date and there is insufficient funds? Your account will be marked as "NSF" and you will be unable to use the web payment option. Your account will also be marked at the NC Child Support Centralized Collections office as "NSF" and you will be required to send a certified payment or money order on all future payments.
Can I have more than one bank accounts authorized for a payment? No, only one bank account can be authorized for payments.
Can I have multiple payments set up? Yes.
Does my scheduled payment stop when my child support obligation ends? When your child support obligation ends, it is your responsibility to cancel your scheduled payments. You may do this online or you may contact Child Support Customer Service at 1-877-361-5437 to have your scheduled payments cancelled.
 
General Questions
What if I cancel my account and I need to reactivate it? If you cancel your account you must register again which would require a new prenote period.
Do I have to have access to the internet to schedule a payment? No. You may sign up for a bank draft by submitting a registration form to the NC Child Support Centralized Collections office by US mail or fax. A form may be requested by calling the NC Child Support Centralized Collections office or by downloading it from the North Carolina Child Support Internet Payment Web Site.

Credit Card FAQs
What credit cards do you accept? You may use your MasterCardŽ or VisaŽ to make a child support payment.
What information is required to make a credit card payment? The following information is required to make a credit card payment:
ˇ Non-custodial parent's first and last name.
ˇ Non-custodial parent's social security number.
ˇ Non-custodial parent's MPI (Master Participant Index) number.
ˇ Credit card holder's name.
ˇ Credit card holder's billing address.
ˇ Valid e-mail address.
ˇ MasterCardŽ or VisaŽ credit card number and expiration date.
What should I do if I don't have an e-mail address? A valid e-mail address is required in order for us to communicate with you electronically. Can I make a credit card payment if I am under an Order for Income Withholding? Yes, but income withholding will remain in effect and will not be terminated.
Is there a minimum payment requirement? Yes, there is a minimum payment requirement of $1.00.
What is the maximum payment that I can make? The maximum payment that you can make in one transaction is $9,999.99; assuming that your card has that amount of credit available. Multiple transactions can be made in one day as long as each transaction does not exceed $9,999.99, and the appropriate amount of credit is available.
What is the purpose of the convenience fee? The credit card convenience fee is allowed under the provisions of North Carolina G.S. 147-86.22 and in accordance with the Department of Health and Human Services' (DHHS) Cash Management Plan. DHHS charges the fee in order to offer the public the convenience of using this easy payment method. Without the convenience fee, the cost of providing this service would be prohibitive.
How much is the convenience fee? The convenience fee for using this service is $5.00.
Will the convenience fee be applied to my child support obligation? The convenience fee is separate from your child support obligation and is not applied to it.
When will my credit card be charged for my child support payment? Your credit card is charged at the time you submit the transaction, and your credit card company authorizes it.
When will my payment be applied to my child support account? A payment made before 11:00 P.M., will be applied two (2) business days from the day it was made on the web site.
Can I make a payment for a non-custodial parent with my credit card? Yes, you can use your credit card to make a payment for a non-custodial parent; however, you will need their first and last name, social security number, and MPI (Master Participant Index) number.
What is the CVV2/ CVC2 3-digit security code and where do I find it? The CVV2/ CVC2 3-digit security code is an added security measure. It is used to establish that you are in possession of the credit card. The code is printed just above the signature panel in reverse italics on the back of your card. Usually your card number precedes it.
My credit card transaction was declined, what should I do? You will need to contact your credit card company to determine why the payment was not authorized. It could have been declined for one of the following reasons:

ˇ The credit card number and/ or CVV2/ CVC2 security code was incorrectly entered.
ˇ There is a discrepancy between the address you entered and the billing address that is on file with the card-issuing bank. You must enter the billing address that appears on your credit card statement.
ˇ A foreign address (a country other than the US) was entered. The web site is unable to process credit card payments with a foreign address.
ˇ There is insufficient credit available for the payment amount.
